Геометрия клинка: особенности и назначение
При покупке ножа учитывать геометрию клинка столь же важно, как и материал, из которого изготовлено лезвие и рукоять. Это центральное понятие, влияющее на качество реза, и определяющее будущую сферу применения ножа. В этой статье мы разберемся, из чего складывается понятие “геометрия клинка”, как она влияет на режущие свойства инструмента и какие формы клинков существуют.

Теперь разберемся в том, какие формы клинков представлены на рынке и для каких целей они предназначены.
С прямым обухом или Normal Blade
Классическая, наиболее часто встречающаяся форма клинка. Такие ножи часто универсальны и подходят для решения большинства задач по нарезке. Увеличение скругления удлиняет режущую кромку и облегчает работу с ножом. Форма Normal Blade встречается у кухонных разделочных ножей.
Drop Point
Рукоять составная, с прослойками из кожи и стальным больстером. Ножны простые, коричневые, скандинавского типа.
Clip Point или Bowie
Trailing Point
В отличие от Clip Point и Drop Point, в этом профиле клинка острие расположено выше линии обуха. Такой прием способствует увеличению режущей поверхности, и, вместе с этим, ухудшает колющие свойства изделия. Ножом с профилем клинка Trailing Point удобно резать мягкие материалы. Часто такая форма встречается у традиционных ножей разных национальностей, предназначенных только для того, чтобы обрабатывать шкуры животных. Возможность заточки обуха значительно увеличивает сферу применения подобных изделий.
Tanto
Такие клинки еще называют “Американский танто”. Изготовлены по образу классических японских ножей. Форма клинка позволяет ножу выдерживать высокие нагрузки и наносить резкие, колющие удары даже по твердому материалу, при этом риск сломать изделие крайне низкий. Равномерная режущая поверхность обеспечивает качественный, уверенный рез. Эта форма клинка также встречается и в боевых ножах.

Hawkill Blade или керамбит
Внешне такой профиль клинка напоминает коготь огромной хищной птицы. Имеет тонкое острие, расположенное ниже центральной линии ножа, благодаря чему и получается серповидная форма клинка. К этой разновидности относятся все ножи-керамбиты. Категорически не подходит для нарезки, идеален для нанесения колющих ран и самообороны.
Сталь клинка — 420 это одна из самых популярных сталей, низкого ценового сегмента. Главным ее преимуществом является хорошее противодействие коррозии. Рукоять выполнена из G10 — неубиваемого материала уже ставшего настоящей легендой. Он не боится ни влаги, ни выцветания. Так же он обладает неплохой стойкостью к ударам и истиранию.
Мы перечислили наиболее распространенные профили клинков. Конечно, существует гораздо больше разновидностей форм клинков, просто используются они крайне редко, в отдельных случаях.
Hawkbill – садовый тип ножа, или коготь. Высокие режущие свойства.
American Tanto – менее распространен чем предыдущая версия. Так же хорошо колет, обладает контролируемым резом. Применяется в «боевых» ножах.
Gut Hook – имеет заточенный крючок на конце, применяется для вспарывания шкуры.
Kerambit – за счет вогнутой формы напоминающей коготь предназначен для нанесения секущих ран. Применяется для самозащиты.
Needle point – форма клинка напоминает иглу. Применяется в ножах для самообороны.
Здесь перечислены только основные (чаще всего встречающиеся) формы клинков. На самом деле их значительно больше. Кроме формы клинок бывает различных сечений. Поперечное сечение клинка, или, как принято выражаться, «вид заточки», влияет на его режущие качества.
Спуски – могут быть плоскими, вогнутыми, выгнутыми. Как правило их представляют плоскостями.
Толщина сведения – чем она меньше, тем лучше. Это самое маленькое расстояние между спусками. Режущая кромка – пересечение плоскостей спусков.
Подводы – плоскости, которые сходятся под более острым углом, чем спуски.
Ширина подвода – часть, которая затачивается (по которой идет точильный камень)
Угол заточки – угол между спусками, если нет подводов. Если же они есть, то это угол между подводами.
При уменьшении угла заточки режущие свойства иструмента возрастают, а прочность лезвия, особенно при ударах и соприкосновениях с твердыми телами, снижается. С учетом этого для разных инструментов рекомендованы определенные углы заточки:

TANTO: Most tantos seen on the American cutlery market are Americanized formats. Like the Japanese tanto, the Americanized tanto has a high point in-line with the pivot. A flat grind is applied to the point, leaving it very thick and extraordinarily strong. This thick area helps absorb the impact from piercing, as the tanto was originally designed for armor piercing. The front edge meets the bottom edge at an obtuse angle rather than curving to meet it as seen in the Japanese tanto. The only negative aspect of the tanto blade shape is the cutting surface area is sacrificed to gain tip strength.
DROP-POINT: A slow convex-curved drop in the point characterizes a drop-point blade. The drop-point format lowers the point for control but adds strength to the tip. Usually coupled with plenty of belly for slicing, this format is often used for hunting knives. It is also a fantastic all-around blade format. This blade shape can be found on a wide array of knives.
SHEEPSFOOT: This blade shape has no point on the tip, very little to no belly and the spine of the blade curves down to meet the edge. It is used in applications where slicing is the min requirement, and a point is either not needed or would actively get in the way. Emergency rescue blades are usually of this design. The lack of a point prevents the rescuer from inadvertently injuring a victim who is being cut free from something restrictive.
