Врачи остроумно назвали лютеин внутренними солнечными очками за его уникальную способность отфильтровывать часть светового спектра. Другими словами, лютеин нам нужен, чтобы не ослепнуть.
И вот что любопытно: по некоторым исследованиям в группу риска по слепоте включили полных курящих голубоглазых женщин, а генетика в этом деле значит даже меньше, чем режим питания.

Полные курящие голубоглазые женщины
В клинических испытаниях при изучении влияния каротиноидов на здоровье глаз учитывалась плотность макулярного пигмента и её зависимость от концентрации в крови лютеина и зеаксантина, поступавших с пищей.
Было выявлено, что макулярный пигмент по своей природе имеет меньшую плотность у женщин, причём у светлоглазых, особенно у курящих и у страдающих ожирением (а более плотный соответственно у мужчин, темноглазых, некурящих и сухощавых).
Получается, что в самую опасную группу риска по возрастным изменениям сетчатки входят полные курящие голубоглазые женщины. Но, хоть и в меньшей степени, истощение макулярного пигмента грозит всем девочкам, даже если мы презирающие никотин кареглазки с тонкой талией.
С точки зрения очкариков хорошо быть кареглазым худым некурящим парнем.
Нелинейная зависимость
Многократно подтверждено на практике, что при повышенном потреблении лютеина в течение одного месяца в сыворотке крови достигается устойчивое плато концентрации каротиноидов. И эти показатели не повышаются при дальнейшем приёме, являясь постоянными и неизменными.
Плотность макулы реагирует медленнее, и она остаётся повышенной ещё в течение долгого времени даже после окончания приёма каротиноидов, поэтому уместно говорить об их пролонгированном действии.
Размер имеет значение
Эффективность приёма лютеин с зеаксантином сильно зависит от количества. Во многих случаях повышение дозировки до среднесуточных 20 мг не приносило никаких изменений в то время как удвоение этой величины сразу же давало результативный скачок. Это зафиксировано в цифрах в многочисленных международных исследованиях, и это то, что я тоже почувствовала на своей шкурке, о чём отметила выше.
Разные диагностические методики, несмотря на некоторую корреляцию в конечных результатах, позволяют сделать однозрачный вывод: дополнительный приём каротиноидов в дозировке 40 мг оправдан и необходим для предотвращения дегенеративных заболеваний глаз.
